![]() Max payne3 has a amazing shooting/physics mechanic, but the story I feel is not really a max payne story. Now he has to walk around with the death of friends, bosses, old allies on top of his wife and daughter's deaths. Max is just alone everyone from the first game the police captain, vlad, woden, Mona all dead and just leaving max alive. Yet Max finds out vlad is out to get him (for some odd reason I forget) and Mona dies in front of him so does Woden the man who helped him get revenge off the woman who put a hit on his wife from the first game. So when Mona walks back into his life he for once feels maybe just a hope of romace/not being alone. He only has one friend in the world Vladmir from the first game. He has been living what now 10-12 years without his wife and child instead of the few years/months of the first game. He is now more wiser and filled with more lonilenes. In max payne 2 though I feel is more depressing Max is now older and basically in the first game honestly thought he was going to go down in a blaze of glory. Max payne1 is a bumpy ride filled with sorrow, quick wit, and hatred all from Max himself. ![]() The first one had the tragic death of his wife and child, but he was filled with revenge more than regret. I feel that out of all the series max payne2 was the most depressing. I'm meandering, but the point is you come out of that stuff either dead or fucked up. I guess the Soviets did celebrate, but their celebrations tended to include Iron Curtains and mass rape, not surprising considering they had almost been exterminated. I mean, when the concentration camps were liberated the Jews didn't don party hats and throw a how-down. When you go through something like that there's no celebration, no fun times. ![]() I actually think a happy ending would've been 1000 x worse than the one they had. It was like the music, the artwork, the atmosphere, and the reapers all fucked and the baby was the apocalypse. And then Marcelo.Īnd it's also why I think Mass Effect 3 was one of the best games ever despite the mehish ending. That's not supposed to happen! Really increased the stakes for me. When Fabiana was executed I almost shit myself. I love it when games/art/music invoke emotion, it doesn't have to make me feel good, it could invoke anger or depression, but if it makes me feel something I count it as a resounding success. I don't think many games, at least successfully, go there. That's actually one of the reasons why I love it.
